UNRWA: Gaza is choking, the world has lost its humanity
Philip Lazzarini, commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, warned of the critical situation in Gaza and said the reality is that Gaza is suffocating and it seems that the world has now lost its humanity. According to the Palestinian news agency Sama, Lazzarini added: "Gaza is currently suffering from water and electricity shortages and my colleagues in Gaza can no longer provide humanitarian assistance." Lazzarini warned: “Gaza will soon run out of food and medicine, and in the last 8 days not a drop of water, not a grain of wheat, not a liter of fuel has been allowed into the Gaza Strip.” The UNRWA Commissioner said: "Let us remember that Gaza has been under siege by the Zionist regime for over 16 years, and over 60% of its residents actually rely on international food aid."
Lazzarini announced the death of 14 employees of the organization after the recent war in Gaza and said that the agency has 13,000 employees, most of whom are now either displaced or living outside their homes. Stating that at least 400,000 Palestinian refugees are staying in UNRWA-affiliated schools and buildings, Lazzarini warned that sieging and bombing infrastructure in a densely populated area like the Gaza Strip would never bring peace and security to the region. The Zionist regime's attacks on densely populated areas of the Gaza Strip continue, with the death toll reaching 2,600 and the number of wounded more than 9,000. Most of the martyrs and wounded are children and women.
