US is pleased with Sweden's NATO membership passing through commission
The US administration welcomed the passage of Sweden's proposal for NATO membership by the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and stated that US President Joe Biden's open support for the sale of F-16s to Turkey continues.
According to the news of Yeni Message newspaper, the US State Department, responding to the question of an AA correspondent, noted that it greatly welcomed Turkey's latest step regarding Sweden's NATO membership. In the ministry statement, "President Biden has long maintained his open support for the modernization of Turkey's F-16 fleet, which will improve NATO's operational capability." statements were included. Noting that they welcomed the acceptance of the proposal regarding Sweden's membership in NATO in the Turkish Grand National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee, the US State Department also stated that they could not make statements or comments regarding such foreign arms sales processes until an official notification was made to the Congress regarding the F-16 sale to Ankara. The Bill on Approval of the Protocol Concerning Sweden's Participation in NATO was accepted by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
