US military doctor sexual abuse exposed

  The US Army charged a military doctor with sexual assault in a case involving 23 victims. Rape and sexual abuse of female students in the US military is not a new but a common problem. Every year, Pentagon statistics show an increase in cases of rape of female students in the army by students and professors. According to the Pentagon, the U.S. Army recorded 8,942 cases of sexual harassment reported by the military in FY 2022, both as perpetrators and as victims. This indicates an increase of one percent compared to the previous year.

Colonel Jennifer Bocanegra said Major Michael Stokin, an anesthesiologist who joined the army in May 2013 and is based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state, was charged this week, Colonel Jennifer Bocanegra said. The Washington Post writes that the Stokin case could become one of the largest sexual harassment cases in the military in recent years, and that at least 23 people were injured in this case. Last month, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order that changes how the military investigates cases of sexual harassment.
