USA-Biden: I'm sure I will sign the debt agreement
Joe Biden said he was sure that the debt ceiling agreement reached last night with the Republicans will be approved in Congress and will arrive on his desk for signature. Speaking to reporters following the White House on his way back from Camp David, the president also announced a phone call with Kevin McCarthy.
When asked if there were any loose ends in the deal, Biden replied, "none." Joe Biden ordered flags at half-mast on public buildings in memory of the victims of yet another shooting at a Texas mall.
The president called the massacre "a senseless act". "Out of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated in Allen, Texas, I command that over the White House and all public buildings and military bases, at home and abroad, the flag of the United States be flown at half auction until May 11", reads a note from the American president who for months has been asking Congress to approve a law banning assault rifles, "weapons of war", as Biden called them.
