At the end of the call, the Secretary of Defense briefed Gallant on the actions of the US military to protect US forces and interests throughout the West Asia region. The Pentagon said that in the telephone conversation, Austin emphasized US support for Israel and the importance of preventing an escalation of tensions in the region (West Asia).
