What forced the US to negotiate with Hamas?

Political experts and analysts have analyzed US President Donald Trump's decision to negotiate with the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas.

Firas Yaghi, an expert on the Zionist regime, considered the direct negotiations between the US and Hamas to be the result of the Trump administration's conviction that direct negotiations would accelerate the release of prisoners and be a prelude to broader plans in the region.

On the other hand, another Palestinian analyst, Hassan Lafi, stated: “The US negotiation with Hamas has both negative and positive sides.” The positive side of it is that the Trump administration has become convinced that the prisoner issue cannot be resolved without Hamas, and this is tantamount to the failure of Netanyahu’s policy of military pressure.

According to him, the negative side is the US deception against Hamas to release a larger number of prisoners without committing to ending the war.

Palestinian political analyst Iyad Al-Ghera said: "The US talks with Hamas are an important step towards opening the door to a broader dialogue that could go beyond the prisoner issue, leading to the possibility of ending the war in Gaza and forcing the occupiers to fulfill their obligations."

He added: "These negotiations reflect Washington's declining confidence in the Israeli occupiers and their failure to defeat or politically marginalize Hamas."

Meanwhile, prominent Arab world analyst Abdel Bari Atwan says: "Donald Trump's turn to seek negotiations is the result of his government's and his envoy's frustration with dictating terms to Hamas through Arab mediators."

A report on the Israeli TV channel "i24" addressed the futile threats made by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu against Hamas, saying that the US president and the Israeli prime minister have failed to carry out their threats and are now seeking friendship with Hamas.

Continuing Netanyahu's failures to achieve his goals in the war in Gaza, Israeli Channel 13, amid direct US negotiations with Hamas, quoting some Zionist officials, reported that if Donald Trump reaches an understanding with Hamas, it will be very difficult for Benjamin Netanyahu to oppose it, and the Americans will act on that basis.

This comes as the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas continues to insist on the fulfillment of all its demands, including the implementation of a prisoner exchange, the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza, and the Zionist regime's commitment not to resume the war in order to continue negotiations.
