The Yemeni capital was the scene of a large military parade this morning to celebrate the 9th anniversary of the September 21 Revolution. The event was attended by the president of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen, Mahdi al-Mashat, the military leaders, the authorities of the Parliament, various ministers of the executive branch, the presidents of the judiciary, the Shura Council and the Supreme Court of the country. As soon as President Mahdi al-Mashat arrived at the parade square, he placed a wreath on the tomb of the martyred President Saleh al-Sammad.

In 2014, the people of Yemen led a popular uprising against the unpopular regime of Abd-Rabbu Mansur Hadi, supported by Saudi Arabia. The popular mass protests were against the incompetent and corrupt regime in Sanaa. In an attempt to crush the resistance and reinstall the Hadi regime, just six months later, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched a ferocious bombing campaign on the neighboring Arab country. The war, which enjoyed unconditional support in terms of weapons, logistics and politics from of the United States, has killed tens of thousands of Yemenis and turned the entire country into the scene of the world's worst humanitarian crisis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia announced that it had invited a Yemeni delegation from Sanaa; the objective is to carry out meetings and discussions based on the peace initiative announced in March 2021.

"We welcome the arrival of a high-level delegation from Yemen in Saudi Arabia", reads the note from the ministry. This is the first official visit by representatives of Yermen's Ansarallah government to Riyadh since the war in Yemen began almost a decade ago. It comes after nearly 18 months of calm that began after a UN-brokered truce took effect on April 2, 2022. The Great Kingdom's Ministry made this known on its account on Platform extension of the Saudi initiative announced in March 2021, a continuation of meetings and discussions conducted by the Saudi team led by the Ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, with the participation of Oman in Sanaa, to achieve a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and a sustainable and acceptable political solution for all Yemeni parties. The Kingdom then extended an invitation to a delegation from the Ansarallah government of Yermen to visit the Kingdom to complete these meetings.
