120 people have been killed in el-Fasher, Sudan within 2 weeks
In fact, 123 people have been killed in the past two weeks in the fighting that continues to be witnessed in the city of el-Fasher, in the state of Darfur, in western Sudan.
This was said yesterday Sunday by the Society of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and added that, the fighting between the government army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has also led to 930 people being injured in the city, which is the regional headquarters of North Darfur.
The MSF statement stated that: This is a sign of increasing fighting in el-Fasher. We ask the opposing parties to do everything they can to protect the citizens."
At the same time, Volker Türk, the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations, has said that he is "shocked" by the increase in violence in the city in western Sudan.
He has warned the commanders of both sides that the fighting in the city of el-Fasher will cause a disaster and worsen the humanitarian situation in Sudan, especially in the Darfur state.
Armed clashes began in Sudan on April 15 last year between the country's army (SAF) led by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan who is the leader of Sudan and the RSF militia whose commander is Hamdan Dagalo.
Until now, international mediation efforts to end the conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 14,000 people and approximately 8.5 million forced to become refugees inside and outside of Sudan, have hit a rock.
