225 people lost their lives due to the extreme hunger in Tigray, Ethiopia
At least 225 people have died in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia due to famine caused by the drought that has continued to be witnessed in some parts of the country.
Local authorities have been quoted by the media as saying that 200 people have died of starvation in the town of Edaga Arbi in Tigray since July last year. In addition, 16 people have been reported to have lost their lives due to the extreme hunger in the town of Adwa, which is adjacent to the town of Edaga Arbi in Tigray province, being the latest victims of the famine in the area.
