600 Palestinians ended up in handcuffs in January alone, 99 are children

In January, the Zionist regime arrested 598 Palestinians, including 99 children and eight women, Palestinian rights groups said: Detentions in Jerusalem were higher than in other Palestinian cities in the occupied West Bank. This is what emerged in a joint report published by the Detainee and Ex-Detainee Affairs Commission, the Palestinian Prisoners Club, the Addameer Prisoners' Support and Human Rights Association and the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, in East Jerusalem.

In the report, Palestinian rights groups say that, as of the end of January, the number of Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli-occupied prisons has risen to 4,780, including 29 women and 160 minors -157 males and three females. The largest number of arrests occurred in Jerusalem (255), then Hebron (81) and Jenin (62). In January, the Israeli occupation authorities issued 260 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, including 103 new and 157 renewals. Rights groups have reiterated that Israeli detention of Palestinians and crimes by the Israeli army are on the rise. According to the report, Palestinian women prisoners are facing the worst wave of human rights violations, in flagrant violation of international laws and conventions.
