After 23 years, Israeli tanks attack Jenin camp
On Sunday evening, for the first time since 2002, Israeli tanks entered the Jenin refugee camp north of the Jordan River.

Since January 21, 2025, the Israeli army has expanded the boundaries of Operation Iron Wall and carried out attacks on Palestinian refugee towns and camps in the West Bank, especially in the Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas governorates.
Palestinian officials have also warned that the operation is part of Netanyahu's cabinet's plan to annex the West Bank and establish sovereignty over it, which would end the "two-state" solution.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that regime forces would remain in Jabal al-Sheikh and in the buffer zone with Syria indefinitely.
He noted: "We will not allow the residents of the West Bank to return to the camps that we entered. The war will not end until all our prisoners are returned and Hamas rule in Gaza is ended."
The American news agency Axios, citing Israeli officials, reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed the release of 600 Palestinian prisoners, despite the advice of his security chiefs.
According to the report, Israeli security chiefs have advised Netanyahu to make every effort to conclude negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire agreement or extend the first phase. According to the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and the Zionist regime, on Saturday, in exchange for the handover of 6 Israeli prisoners, the regime was to release more than 600 Palestinian prisoners. However, the regime once again violated the agreement and refused to release the Palestinian prisoners.
Benjamin Netanyahu's office on Sunday expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Israeli prisoners were handed over, claiming that Hamas had deliberately tarnished their dignity and was using them for propaganda and political purposes. Hamas leader Bassem Naim told Reuters: "Until the 600 Palestinian prisoners are released, Hamas will not hold any negotiations through mediators on the next phase of the ceasefire agreement with the enemy."
