Agreement between representatives of countries at a UN Security Council meeting on establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip
At a meeting of the UN Security Council at the level of foreign ministers, representatives of many countries demanded an end to the attack of the Zionist regime on the defenseless people of Gaza.
A meeting of the UN Security Council to review developments in West Asia and conflicts between Palestinian and Israeli resistance groups at the level of foreign ministers took place on Tuesday local time, when many countries, in contrast to supporters of the Zionist regime, demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Antonio Guterres UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: "It is important to know that Hamas's attacks did not happen in a vacuum and suddenly. The Palestinian people have been under a suffocating occupation for 56 years.
Their lands have been continually swallowed up by settlements and violence. Their economies are suffocating; people are displaced and their homes were destroyed. Their hopes for a political solution to their problems were destroyed." Riyad al-Maliki Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Maliki told a UN Security Council meeting that the Security Council's continued failure to stop the war in Gaza was unjustified: "Israel is taking revenge on the women and children of Gaza. More than a thousand Palestinians are under rubble in the Gaza Strip, and two "Million Palestinians are living under bombardment. Any delay in the delivery of aid and fuel means a new death sentence for the people of Gaza."
The foreign minister of Brazil, whose country chairs the UN Security Council in October this year, also introduced a resolution on “humanitarian pauses” in the midst of conflicts between Palestinian and Israeli resistance groups but faced a US veto, said: “I demand the unconditional release of all civilian hostages in Gaza. The escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable, and we also oppose the destruction of infrastructure in the Gaza Strip." Brazil's Foreign Minister added: "Aid to the Gaza Strip is not enough to meet the needs of the people in the area. All parties to the conflict in Gaza must adhere to the principles of international humanitarian law." Brazil's Foreign Minister said: "Israel must stop all its settlement activities, including in East Quds (Jerusalem). There is a risk that the crisis in Gaza will spread to other parts of the region."
Ayman Safadi Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, also stating that the bombing of schools, mosques and churches and the destruction of civilians is not self-defense, stressed: “This war must be the last war against the Gaza Strip. The occupation must end and establish a just and inclusive a world based on the two-state principle." Jordan's Foreign Minister said: "The Security Council has not even asked for a ceasefire in Israel's current war against Gaza, in which 14 Palestinian civilians are dying every hour." The senior Jordanian official continued: “According to the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, any attempt to resettle Palestinians within or outside their occupied land is a war crime.” Sameh Shoukry Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry also said at the Security Council meeting: “We are surprised by the failure of the Security Council to pass a resolution establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. We demand international support for the defenseless people of Palestine, and Egypt denies any attacks on civilians with side of any party."
Qatar's UN representative also said: "Continued Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip are considered a dangerous, tension-generating situation for the security and stability of the region, and Doha is keeping channels of communication open with all parties." A Qatari representative told a UN Security Council meeting: “We categorically reject what Israel has proposed regarding the politicization of humanitarian assistance by Qatar.” Zhang Jun, China's ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, also said in his speech: "International laws must be respected and international efforts for the peaceful release of the hostages must be encouraged." China's ambassador to the UN said: "We call for the expulsion of northern Gaza residents to be stopped and for the ultimatum to be rescinded." Catherine Colonna French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, having voted against the Russian ceasefire resolution in the Gaza Strip, said: “The civilian population in the Gaza Strip must be protected.
