Almost 1 lakh have fled their homes from the attacks of militants in Mozambique
Tens of thousands of citizens have been forced to flee their homes in Mozambique after the resurgence of unrest in the north of the country.
This was said yesterday Tuesday by the human rights organization Save the Children and added that, clashes between militant gangs and security officers have caused 99,313 people, including 61,492 children, to flee their homes in the northern region of Cabo Delgado.
Save the Children has explained that the violence has caused a large number of people to flee their homes in several districts in the Cabo Delgado region between December 22, 2023 and March 3, 2024.
Before that, the United Nations Organization for Handling Refugees UNHCR said that attacks by armed militia groups in the south of Cabo Delgado have led thousands of people, mostly children, to flee their homes and flee to a safe place.
Attacks by terrorist groups and the ISIS or Daesh terrorist group in Cabo Delgado have killed thousands of people since the conflict erupted in 2017, disrupting multibillion-dollar natural gas and mining projects.
In March 2021, terrorists in Mozambique captured the northern city of Palma, located on the country's border with Tanzania, killing dozens of people and forcing more than 540,000 people to become refugees. The area has been hit by rebellion after the start of a 20 billion dollar gas project.
In July 2021, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) began sending its troops to help the Mozambican army fight armed terrorists in the north of the country.
