Eurasia News website: - Commander of special forces, lieutenant general, hero of the Patriotic War, lieutenant general Hikmet Mirzoev was appointed deputy minister of defense and commander of ground forces. Such an appointment was made only two days after the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, issued a stern warning to Armenia and its supporters, which has given rise to some considerations and analysis. Some experts believe that the appointment of Hikmet Mirzoev, who has been recorded in history as the "conqueror of Shushi", to the position of Deputy Minister of Defense and Commander of the Ground Forces actually shows that Azerbaijan is preparing for the next military operation. It is possible that in case of Armenia's refusal to sign the peace agreement, the delimitation and the reopening of the (fake) Zangezur corridor are delayed, Baku will decide to carry out another short-term military operation in order to force Armenia to sign the peace agreement.

Analyst, researcher of APRI Armenia, Sergey Melkonyan, in a post for the "EurasianDiplomacy" analytical website, noted that the "Zangezur Corridor" project, as stated by the Turkish leadership, is not economic, but political. This false corridor is a priority for Azerbaijan. In the summer of 2023, Aliyev announced that the "Zangezur Corridor" will definitely be opened, regardless of whether Armenia wants it or not.

Melkonyan added, "This month, Aliyev once again announced that there should be free access to Nakhichevan from Azerbaijan, so there should be no customs fees, inspections and border guarding procedures." In other words, the president of Azerbaijan talks about the corridor without using the word "corridor". Therefore, as a matter of fact, neither Baku nor Ankara have given up their expansionist intentions, including the "Zangezur Corridor", since the main beneficiaries are NATO, Israel and the West.

It is even more clear that any agreement between Yerevan and Baku will not lead to peace, but to a truce between wars. The expansionist ambitions of Baku and Ankara can be restrained only by establishing a balance of power. Therefore, the purchase of weapons by Armenia for defense purposes provokes strong reactions from Turkey and Azerbaijan. However, the only way to establish peace in the region is to neutralize the expansionist plans of Baku and Ankara.
