The Niger government has announced a three-month suspension of BBC radio broadcasts after the British government agency was found guilty of spreading fake news.
The BBC has been accused of spreading "misinformation that could destabilize social peace and weaken the morale of soldiers" in the country's ongoing fight against Islamist terrorists.
The announcement of the suspension of BBC broadcasting in Niger has been announced by the Minister of Communications Sidi Mohamed Raliou. The Niger government has said the BBC's broadcasts threaten national stability.
Niger has also previously suspended the broadcasts of the French radio station RFI and the French television station France 24 for broadcasting advertisements that violated the country's laws.
