BDS welcomes Oslo's decision not to trade Israeli goods and services

AL QUDS-The Palestinian National Committee (BNC) on Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS), the largest coalition leading the global BDS movement for freedom, justice and equality, welcomed the decision of the Norwegian capital, Oslo, not to trade goods and services from Israeli settlements.

Oslo city council has announced it will not trade goods and services produced in illegally occupied areas, in violation of international law. Its procurement policy will exclude companies that contribute directly or indirectly to Israel's settlement enterprise, a war crime under international law.

“Following the suspension of ties with Apartheid Israel by the mayor of Barcelona, this decision by Oslo city council rejects complicity and promotes human rights. We call on cities around the world to sever ties with apartheid Israel to support the Palestinian quest for freedom, justice and equality,” the BNC said in a tweet. He hailed what he described as the "tireless work" of Norwegian grassroots groups, trade unions and parties who made it possible.
