Regarding his country's operation to drop humanitarian aid from the air to Gaza with a military plane, Lahbib said, "What we see in Gaza is a humanitarian tragedy." said.
"We definitely need an immediate ceasefire in Gaza," Lahbib said. he said.
Emphasizing that the permanent way to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza is to reach a two-state solution, Lahbib said, "We have an agreement in this regard between the regional governments in Belgium (about the recognition of the Palestinian state). We are seriously considering this." he said.
Lahbib underlined that the Belgian Federal Government was waiting for the "right moment" to recognize the Palestinian state, saying, "Because now, if Belgium alone says that it recognizes the Palestinian state, the result will only be a symbolic statement." made his assessment.
