In the wake of the mass shootings in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Fort Worth, the U.S. president said Tuesday that gun violence is destroying our communities.According to AAA, in a statement released by the White House, Joe Biden declared that much more must be done to combat the epidemic of gun violence that is destroying our communities.

The U.S. president also called on Republican lawmakers in the U.S. Congress to negotiate with their Democratic colleagues on gun reform."We must be able to ban guns and huge magazines and secure guns," Biden added. He continued, we must end gun manufacturers' immunity from liability and conduct comprehensive background checks.

The Second Amendment, which protects the right to bear arms, is a justifiable issue for many Republicans, who receive millions of dollars in donations from gun rights groups and manufacturers.According to data compiled by the nonprofit research group Archives of Gun Violence, there were more than 340 mass shootings in 2023.
In Biden's first two years in office, when the Democratic Party had a majority in both houses of Congress, Democrats were unable to pass a gun ban.
