Biden's call for a three-day halt to the war in Gaza
The Axios website quoted American and Zionist officials as saying that the US president called on the Tel Aviv prime minister to stop the war in the Gaza Strip for three days to speed up the process of releasing Zionist prisoners. News site Axios reported Tuesday evening that the United States, Israel and Qatar are considering a proposal that would see Hamas release 10 to 15 prisoners. Hamas is estimated to be holding about 180 hostages, Islamic Jihad is holding 40 hostages, and other groups are holding about 20 hostages. According to this report, citing American and Zionist officials, this three-day ceasefire will be used to verify the identity of all Zionist prisoners and provide a list of them. Axios continued: America, the Zionist regime and Qatar are considering a proposal under which Hamas would release 10 to 15 prisoners. Biden's proposal for a three-day pause in the war in Gaza comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu worries that a three-day pause in the war will lead to a loss of international support. Earlier, the US representative to the UN said that the president of this country supports the establishment of a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the release of hostages and the arrival of humanitarian aid in the region.
