A naval exercise by members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization called "Dynamic Mariner" is taking place on the coast of Italy.
The NATO Maritime Command media center announced on its website: “After a year of careful planning, naval exercises by members of the military alliance began on 23 October in Italian coastal waters to prepare NATO ships and naval personnel to effectively respond to crises and possible threats in the future that will continue until November 6." The main objective of the maritime exercise, conducted by NATO Maritime Command (MARCOM), is to educate and prepare Italian naval forces as Rome prepares to take over control of the NATO Naval Response Force (NRF) from Ankara in 2024. Participants in Exercise Dynamic Mariner will take part in a wide range of training activities, including anti-submarine and anti-air warfare, amphibious operations, mine countermeasures, 24-hour training, strait crossing and critical undersea infrastructure (CUI) protection. ) NATO's naval operations and capabilities will be tested in multiple domains, including air, land and sea, as well as asymmetric warfare, including cyber warfare. The exercises are taking place in Italian territorial waters and international waters of the Mediterranean Sea, including the airspace of the northern Mediterranean, which is a very important area of global maritime security.
