Council on American-Islamic Relations: Confiscation of mosque loudspeakers is a clear declaration of Israel's war on Islam
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has condemned the ban on broadcasting the call to prayer from mosques in the occupied Palestinian territories through the confiscation of loudspeakers, calling it the latest act of war against Islam by the Zionist regime.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has condemned the ban on broadcasting the call to prayer from mosques in the occupied Palestinian territories through the confiscation of loudspeakers, calling it the latest act of war against Islam by the Zionist regime.
According to the Sahab News Network, Nihad Awad, National Executive Director of the American-Islamic Relations Council, said: “Attacks on mosques, churches, cultural sites and the desecration of sacred texts are all part of the Zionist regime’s years-long campaign to erase Palestinian culture.”
He added: “The war on Islam and Christianity has always been a core component of Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people.”
The National Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Muslim-majority countries to take concrete steps to end such genocide, noting that US President Joe Biden’s support for Israel has emboldened the regime to suppress religious freedoms.
Awad’s comments came after far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir ordered the Israeli military to ban mosques in the occupied territories from broadcasting the adhan, the call to prayer.
Under Ben Gvir's orders, the military is allowed to enter mosques and confiscate loudspeaker equipment if it is used, and mosques that broadcast the call to prayer will be fined.
