Damascus: America prevents Security Council from fulfilling its responsibilities
The Syrian Foreign Minister, criticizing America's behavior in the face of crimes committed by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip, stressed that Washington and its allies are preventing the council from fulfilling its responsibilities and stopping war crimes against the Palestinian people.
According to the Al-Mayadeen website, Faisal al-Maqdad on Wednesday, appealing to the UN Security Council for immediate humanitarian support for the Palestinian people, said that Damascus opposes any plan or attempt to resettle the residents of the Gaza Strip. Al-Maqdad stressed that the Israeli occupation regime, during its aggression in the Gaza Strip, by using internationally prohibited weapons, as well as cutting off water, prohibiting the import of medicines, cutting off electricity and fuel to the population of Gaza and threatening them with forced displacement, is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Syrian Foreign Minister added that the main reason for the escalation of tension in the occupied Palestinian territories is the injustice suffered by the Palestinian people for many decades and Israel's attempt to destroy the Palestinian cause through acts of genocide.
Al-Maqdad called on the Security Council to take responsibility for ending Israel's massacres and crimes and bring those responsible to justice, away from political hypocrisy and double standards, and to reject attempts to equate the killer and the victim. At the same time, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has emphasized in recent days that the continuation of attacks by the Israeli occupation regime on Syria is proof of the defeat of this regime in the fight against the Syrian resistance. Damascus warned that if the occupation regime continues its attacks and actions against Syria and the Gaza Strip in violation of international law, it will plunge the region into a wider spiral of violence that will be difficult to contain.
