Dismissal of the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament
The Federal Court of Iraq has decided to terminate the powers of the Speaker of Parliament, Mohammed al-Halbousi. According to the BASNEWS Press news agency, the Federal Court of Iraq has considered a lawsuit filed by a member of the country's parliament, Laith al-Dailami, against al-Halbousi. After presenting the documents, al-Deilami stated that al-Halbousi was involved in signing a contract with a foreign company whose director was a former prime minister of the Zionist regime. One of the goals of this company was the normalization of relations between Baghdad and Tel Aviv. The Federal Court of Iraq in a statement announced that after considering the lawsuit filed by Laith al-Dailami, it decided to terminate the powers of the Speaker of Parliament, Mohammed al-Halbousi, and Member of Parliament, Mustafa Hamoud al-Dailami, from the date of this verdict, that is, November 14, 2023 of the year. The Federal Court of Iraq emphasized that this decision is binding and final for all authorities. Reacting to the decision of the Federal Court of Iraq, al-Halbousi called it “strange.”
