Erdogan: The doors of the US ambassador to Turkey are closed

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan criticized the US ambassador for his meeting with Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the opposition Republican People's Party.

Reacting to US Ambassador Jeffry Flake's meeting in Ankara with Kılıçdaroğlu, Erdogan said on Sunday: "Joe Biden's ambassador meets Kemal (Kilicdaroglu). Shame on you. Think something with your brain. The person you are with here ( in Turkey) is the President. Now how do you plan to arrange a meeting with the President after this meeting?"

The Turkish newspaper 'Star' quoted Erdogan as saying: "Our doors are closed to him. He needs to know his place."Kılıçdaroğlu was nominated by 6 opposition parties for the Turkish presidential election and is considered Erdogan's most important rival.

Muharrem Ince from the Home Party and Sinan Ogan from the Ata-Ittifaki electoral alliance are two other candidates for the Turkish presidential election.

With the final publication of the names of the 4 candidates for the Turkish presidential election, the official election campaign in Turkey has started and will continue until 24 hours before the start of the voting on May 14, 2023.
