Erdogan's party loses in the local and municipal elections in Turkey
Turkish local elections ended with an impressive victory for the opposition ruling party.
On Sunday, March 31, Turkish citizens went to the polls to participate in local and municipal elections across the country. More than 61 million Turkish citizens had the right to vote in these elections and 34 political parties competed in them. Turkish local and municipal elections ended with the victory of the People's Republic Party in important cities of the country, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Hataj, Bursa, Antalya and Adana. At the same time, the victory of the mayor of Istanbul "Ekram Imamoglu" from the People's Republican Party, who is mentioned as a potential candidate for the next presidency of Turkey, gave the biggest electoral blow to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his party. Erdogan accepted this defeat and said: We got the nation's message from the ballot boxes. Stating that there are 4 years left until 2028, which is the next round of presidential elections, he said: In this period, we will try to compensate for our mistakes.
