What will change in the Constitution? The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has opened some brackets

As a result of the amendment to the RA Constitution, there will be no change in the governance model, and the new text will be ready by the elections expected in 2026.

This was stated by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Srbuhi Galyan, during a briefing after the government session.

" No change in the governance model is expected. At the moment, I cannot say which chapter of the Constitution they are working on, which articles have been developed at the moment, which have been discussed.

The general concept has been discussed, and work has been carried out on the text. Numerous issues related to human rights are being raised, for example, there is less emphasis on social rights. The new text will emphasize human rights, including from the perspective of social rights," Galyan noted.

He emphasized that there are certain problems in today's Constitution from the perspective of the organizational and legal forms of state bodies. According to the minister, it should be clarified what role and structure independent or autonomous bodies have.

When asked whether amendments are possible to the first 3 articles of the Constitution, which are not subject to amendment, the minister assured that if they are not subject to amendment, then there will be no deviation from logic.

When asked whether changes to the powers of the Prime Minister are expected, Galyan emphasized that he could not answer at this time, but the issue of the powers of the President would be discussed.
