Europe faces another humiliation from the United States

In a continuation of the humiliation against Europe, Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, has canceled a meeting scheduled between him and Kaja Kallas, the European Union's foreign policy chief.
The meeting between Kallas and Rubio was scheduled for February 26-27. The Associated Press reported that the cancellation of the meeting came suddenly, while Kallas was already in Washington, signaling an increase in political tensions between Europe and the United States.
The Financial Times previously reported that Donald Trump's team's stance on Ukraine meant distancing itself from the Kyiv regime and reducing the US's role in the aftermath of the war. The newspaper wrote that "the US has now become Europe's enemy." EU officials told the Associated Press that they were surprised by the decision, saying Kallas was "even more shocked" because he had scheduled his talks with Rubio just two days in advance.
The aim of the EU foreign policy chief's trip to the US was to prevent an escalation of tensions between Europe and the US. In recent weeks, US President Donald Trump has brought chaos to the transatlantic partnership by threatening to impose steep tariffs on European goods, arguing that they should be matched by tariffs on US goods.
Also, differences over how to end the war in Ukraine without involving Europe and without taking into account its expectations have increased tensions in relations. Senior Trump administration officials have warned Europe that it must take responsibility for its own security, including that of Ukraine. As a result, the United States has left the European Union out of talks on a quick end to the war in cooperation with Russia.
In a rare change of position, the United States has voted against a European Union resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
An EU diplomat who spoke to Politico magazine said:
"It seems that the Trump administration is not missing any opportunity to ignore the EU. He is clearly showing that the EU is no longer politically relevant."
The Trump administration's position is currently closer to that of Russia than to that of European countries. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the European Union has no place in the Ukraine peace talks because of its belligerent stance.
Meanwhile, European governments and officials are trying to calmly respond to the unilateral and humiliating actions taken by the Trump administration. However, this stance has not changed the US attitude towards Europe, instead Trump has continued to belittle Europe with greater confidence and firmly implement his America First policy .
Trump has swiftly disrupted 70 years of political, economic, security and environmental relations between Europe and the United States. He wants to rebuild those relations by prioritizing American interests.
However, the European Union cannot respond quickly to Trump's negative stances. Europe prefers dialogue and negotiations to address these changes, but the Trump administration does not give time for dialogue, but expects its demands to be fully complied with.
Removing the Ukrainian government and European countries from peace talks with Russia is part of that strategy. European countries, which have had deep political, economic, military, and security ties with the United States for more than 70 years, now find themselves unable to weather the storm that is tearing apart the diplomatic ties between the two sides of the Atlantic.
