FAO: 33 African countries need food aid from abroad
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has said in its new report that 45 countries in the world, including 33 in Africa, need emergency food aid from abroad.
FAO has said this in its new report and explained that 33 countries in Africa, 9 in Asia, 2 in Latin America and the Caribbean region and one in Europe have a great need for food aid from outside those countries.
The United Nations organization has said that the situation of 45 countries in the world suffering from food insecurity is caused by regional conflicts, bad weather and the effects of climate change.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the World FAO, approximately 700 million people, i.e. 10 percent of the world's population, go to bed hungry every night.
The UN has said that food systems in the world, from the farm to the table, have collapsed, causing more than three billion people to lack a nutritious meal and more than 700 million to have no food.
In addition, the most recent United Nations report on the 'State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World' (SOFI) found that the majority of the world's undernourished people live in Asia, where approximately 425 million people suffered from hunger in 2021. Even so when we look at the level of hunger we will see that it is the biggest in Africa, with 278 million people affected by hunger in that continent in 2022.
The third meeting of parliaments to fight hunger in the world is planned to be held in Africa in 2026 to evaluate the agreements reached in Chile.
