Floods in Kenya kill 228 people

The number of people who died due to the floods that hit Kenya has increased to 228 as the relevant authorities continue to deal with the threat of typhoon Hidaya.

With heavy rains and strong winds expected to increase in the coming days, the Kenyan government yesterday Sunday asked citizens to take great precautions to deal with the effects of climate change. 

Isaac Mwaura Spokesman for the Kenyan government yesterday explained that he has here I am quoting" We are mourning the deaths of 9 people in the last 24 hours, including 7 adults and 2 children, making the total number of deaths due to floods to 228 across the country. The government sends greetings condolences to the friends and family who lost their loved ones." 

Mwaura added that, sadly, the ongoing floods in the country have caused 164 Kenyans to be injured while 72 people are reported missing. In addition, approximately 212,630 people, from 42,526 households, have been forced to relocate."

Flooding in Kenya 

The counties most affected by floods in Kenya include Homa Bay, Kajiado, Nakuru, Mandera and Nairobi where they continue to face severe floods that have caused great disruption to daily life and economic activities.
