Libya: the first international meeting in the country
The United Nations special envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, co-chaired yesterday in Tripoli together with Turkey, the current president, the first international meeting on security in the North African country. The other co-presidents of the Security working group, namely England, Italy, France, the African Union, in the presence of representatives of Algeria, Egypt, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and the European Union.
Abdoulaye Bathily expressed the hope that “this is the first of other meetings of the Group that could be held in different regions of Libya, which will certainly help to advance the political process, creating the right conditions for the organization of free and fair elections in 2023 and the acceptance of its results everywhere".
