G7, Biden: I didn't say I won't go to the next summit
US President Joe Biden denies saying he is willing to cancel or delay the next mission to Asia, which will see him participate in the G7 in Japan, scheduled for later this month if a debt ceiling agreement is not reached by then of the United States.
"I didn't say that," the White House resident replied to the reporters in tow.
The Biden administration has announced a plan to reduce CO2 emissions from coal- and gas-fired power plants starting in 2030 as part of US efforts to combat climate change. Among other things, these new rules require some coal-fired power plants to capture their own emissions instead of emitting them into the atmosphere.
If they go into effect, they will be the first restrictions imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on existing plants. The project "relies on proven and available technologies to limit carbon pollution," explains the source.
Fossil-fuel power plants on US soil will need to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 90 percent between 2035 and 2040, or be forced to close. This is foreseen by the new rules established by the administration of President Joe Biden to accelerate the green transition of the US economy, destined in all likelihood to encounter stiff opposition from the Republican Party.
