Germany: We implement the decisions of the International Criminal Court
German Government Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit said that they implemented the decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to AA news, Hebestreit answered questions at the press conference held in Berlin regarding ICC Chief Prosecutor Kerim Khan's application to issue an "arrest warrant" for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
A journalist asked, "Will the German government comply with the ICC's decision and implement this decision?" Hebestreit stated that this was a hypothetical question and said, "In principle, we support the ICC and it will remain that way." he replied.
“Supporting in principle means taking the ICC's decisions seriously and implementing them. This wasn't hypothetical, which is specifically why I didn't name names. In response to the question "Does the German government comply with the decisions of the ICC?", Spokesperson Hebestreit said, "Of course, yes, we comply with the law." said.
These statements by Spokesperson Hebestreit were interpreted in the German press as meaning that Netanyahu would be arrested on German soil if the ICC issues an arrest warrant.
