United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned all attacks against UN personnel and demanded a comprehensive investigation.

Guterres stated that he learned with sadness that one personnel from the UN Security Unit was killed and another was injured as a result of the attack on the UN vehicle going to the European Hospital in Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip, and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased personnel.

Guterres condemned all attacks against UN personnel and called for a thorough investigation.

Noting that the situation in Gaza affects not only civilians but also humanitarian aid workers, Guterres reiterated his demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the release of all captives.

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq also stated at the daily press conference that they continue to obtain information about the incident and that 196 UN personnel have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Haq stated that after the conflict ended, they continued their contact with the authorities to hold those responsible accountable.

Haq confirmed that the person killed was "international UN personnel".

Haq stated that the nationality of the personnel is known, but it cannot be shared with the press yet.
