The current path in Gaza is going nowhere, and it's time for Washington to change course.
A former director of operations at the US State Department wrote in the Los Angeles Times: "The current path in the Gaza Strip is leading nowhere, and it is time for the United States to change course."
Regarding the Zionist regime's brutal attacks on Palestinians in Gaza, Josh Powell notes: "Unfortunately, more than three months later, we see that the United States and Israel, its main ally in the region, are still trying to implement the first option among all these other solutions." He wrote: “Look at Israel's obvious objectives in its operations against the Gaza Strip; Release of prisoners and destruction of Hamas. Israel has not achieved any of its goals and may be able to choose only one of them, and is unlikely to achieve both." Powell also notes: “Reconstructing Gaza will cost tens of billions of dollars and take a decade under the best conditions. Meanwhile, Arab countries have also told the United States that they will not invest in a facility that will be leveled again in five years.” He also pointed to the plight of Palestinian survivors of these attacks and added: “Gaza lacks the infrastructure to feed people, provide clothing and employ them.” An American politician remarked: “Everywhere you look, there is only a dead end. In the current situation, the most likely future is one without a Palestinian state and without a clear alternative. A future without ceasefire, in which Israel regularly attacks those it perceives as threats, both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank." Powell also emphasized: “In this conceivable future of Palestine, everyone loses. Israel is missing out on the chance for lasting peace, becoming increasingly isolated from the international community, and never achieving the real security it promised its citizens. The United States will also lose its remaining moral authority." Regarding Joe Biden, he noted that he continues to unconditionally provide weapons to destroy Gaza and diplomatic cover to prevent real political decisions or any responsibility in accordance with international law. Biden is committed to whatever path Israel chooses, even if it is to the detriment of America.
