The Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine, known as Hamas, has condemned the recent killings of Palestinians in Khan Younis, laying the blame squarely on the United States government. The statement follows a series of deadly attacks that have further inflamed tensions in the region.
According to the Arab News Agency, Hamas issued a statement accusing the Israeli military of deliberately bombing the "Al-Razi" UNRWA school, a center, and a refugee area in the "al-Mewasi" region of the "al-Nusirat" camp. These areas had been designated as safe zones west of Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip.
The recent escalation saw aggressive actions by Israeli forces targeting the UNRWA facility, the Nusirat camp, and a school in the Mewasi area. The attacks on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 40 Palestinians and left dozens injured. Additionally, an airstrike on July 13 targeted a Palestinian refugee settlement in Al-El, leading to the deaths of at least 120 Palestinians and injuring many more.
Hamas described these attacks as barbaric and shameful, accusing the Israeli regime of continuing its crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people with impunity. The statement highlighted that these acts of violence have occurred without significant international repercussions for Israel.
Hamas' statement further asserted that the American government, under President Joe Biden, bears full responsibility for the systematic killing of Palestinians. The movement criticized the US for its unwavering political and military support of Israel and its role in obstructing international justice. Hamas argued that this support emboldens the Israeli regime to carry out what it describes as genocidal acts against Palestinians.
The devastating impact of these attacks has drawn widespread condemnation from various international organizations and human rights groups. Calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and accountability for the atrocities committed have grown louder.
As the conflict in Gaza persists, the international community faces increasing pressure to intervene and facilitate a resolution that addresses both the humanitarian crisis and the underlying political issues. The situation remains dire, with the lives of millions of Palestinians hanging in the balance amidst ongoing violence and displacement.
