HRW: There is a possibility that RSF has committed genocide in Sudan
The International Organization for the Defense of Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, has said that the series of attacks by Sudanese militia forces in the Darfur region increases the possibility of "genocide".
This is contained in the Human Rights Watch report which has warned about sabotage and attacks by the force led by general Hamdan Dagalo.
Human rights lawyers in those areas have described how the fighters targeted "prominent members of the Massalit community", including doctors, human rights defenders, local leaders and government officials.
The armed conflict started in Sudan on April 15 last year between the army of the country (SAF) led by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan who is the leader of Sudan and the militants of the Rapid Support Force (RSF) whose commander is Hamdan Dagalo.
Until now, international mediation efforts to end the fighting and persuade the rival parties to sit at the negotiating table have hit a rock.
Recently, Justin Brady, Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) in Sudan said, "Today, Sudan is one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. Half of the population of Sudan, i.e. 25 million people, need humanitarian aid human."
