Imam Khamenei: May God help Iranian nation elect the best
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution considered the runoff presidential election very important.
According to the Leader's office website, Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with the new custodian, managers and a number of the professors of Martyr Motahhari School on Wednesday, described election as a support and source of pride for the system and stressed, "The better, clearer and more expressive the participation is, the abler the system will be for materialization of its goals inside the country and pursuit of the goals in the set of the country's strategic extension which is a very great opportunity."
The Leader called the turnout in the first round of the election lower than what had been expected and contrary to predictions, and added, "There are causes for this issue which the experts of politics and sociologists should examine."
Ayatollah Khamenei deemed it as %100 wrong the imagination that anyone who has not voted in the first round is the opponent of the system, and stated, "Maybe some people do not like some of the officials or even the Islamic system, just as they say these things freely; but the mentality that anyone who has not voted is linked with these persons and this thought is quite wrong and mistaken."
Imam Khamenei stressed, "Many people have a problem, a job and a business, or did not participate in voting because of other reasons; which Inshallah, people's turnout in the runoff will be courageous and the source of reputation for the system."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution expressed hope that God may help the people make the best election so that the elected person will be able to materialize the goals of the system and the nation.
The 14th presidential election was held on June 28 in 59,000 polling stations inside the country and abroad to elect the 9th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.Masood Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili won the highest votes and compete for runoff election on Friday July 5.
