India will produce 500 new domestic tanks to replace the Russian T 72s
India's Ministry of Defense (MoD) has approved the development and production of more than 500 future home-built combat vehicles. A total of 590 Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCV) will be built under the Make-I category of the project, which provides government funding of up to 70% for prototype development.
The design and development of the project must have at least 50% indigenous content, as specified by the Ministry of Defense in a project presentation document. The chariot should support the Arjun and would be yet another attempt at national production after the Karna.
