India will produce 500 new domestic tanks to replace the Russian T 72s

India's Ministry of Defense (MoD) has approved the development and production of more than 500 future home-built combat vehicles. A total of 590 Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCV) will be built under the Make-I category of the project, which provides government funding of up to 70% for prototype development.

The design and development of the project must have at least 50% indigenous content, as specified by the Ministry of Defense in a project presentation document. The chariot should support the Arjun and would be yet another attempt at national production after the Karna.

The Indian authorities are investigating the causes of the train tragedy which caused the death of at least 288 people and have ensured that "no one responsible" will be spared.
