According to New York Times columnist David Brooks wrote: “Despite their wickedness, wicked people know their own interests well, while stupid people see no limits to their stupidity and even trample on their own interests and those of their country. Trump certainly belongs to the latter category.”
Columbia University professor Manusha Shafik also calls the US president an “idiot” in her analysis, who has robbed the country of discursive and intellectual perspective. Shafik adds: “It’s as if he has unleashed an entire era of monsters in the United States and around the world!”
The famous American analyst and commentator Thomas Friedman also believes that Trump intends to turn his presidency into a life term. “Trump actually sees the world as a retail store in the Trump Tower skyscraper, and, for example, he says to France: “You are not paying enough rent for that baguette shop of yours!” He sees Europe as a trading bloc that can have a significant impact on the United States, so he prefers to divide them and then negotiate with each of these countries separately; “But he has no idea about the consequences of this.”
In this context, Amir Ali Abolfateh, an Iranian expert on American politics, also wrote on the social network X: “Trump wants eternal power, whether he is a lifelong president or a king. However, this desire cannot be realized without a military coup or a change in the US Constitution. The first requires the support of the military, but the military does not support him, and the second requires the support of Congress and the states, which they are also not ready to provide.”
Iranian international affairs expert Abdolreza Farajirad also believes that Trump is pursuing a colonial policy. He said: “The main goal of the American president is to maintain public opinion within the country and to maintain his electoral base.” According to him, Trump is only temporarily pursuing an authoritarian and intimidating policy.
Prominent Wall Street Journal analyst Gerard Baker, speaking about Trump's trade war against various countries, calls it the stupidest step a US president could have taken. He warns that continuing this trend will cause serious damage to the American economy in particular.
