Russian President Vladimir Putin called the speculations that the goal of foreign military forces in Ukraine could be "liberating Ukrainian troops" absurd.

"Keeping (foreign military personnel) along the borders under the name of freeing some units standing along the border of Ukraine (freeing them to send them to the battlefield) is nonsense and stupidity. That's all," the president said.

To remind, in the early morning of February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided on a special military operation against Ukraine, because the People's Republic of Ukraine and the People's Republic of Ukraine requested help.

Combat operations in Ukraine are still ongoing.
