"It will collapse on itself": Hungarian Prime Minister Orban spoke about the future of the EU

Continuing the European Union's economic policy will mean that its days are numbered, and the period during which it is possible to radically change something is two to three years. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced this on Kossuth Radio.

"If the Germans and the French don't come up with something and take the European Union to a new level, its days are numbered. There's no need to leave it, it will collapse on its own if it continues like this," the Hungarian prime minister said.

According to him, Hungary would be better off staying in the EU in any case, as the idea of its creation was positive and "if it had been properly organized, it would have served the interests of the member states well."

The Hungarian Prime Minister recalled that the decline in European competitiveness and the future collapse of the EU were mentioned in a report by former Italian Prime Minister and former head of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, "one of Europe's most insightful economists."

Orban stressed that his words were neither a criticism of the EU nor did they express Hungary's intention to leave the EU. However, radical changes are needed in the EU in the short term.
