Kenya plans to buy new modern military weapons to deal with the increase in crime
The Kenyan government has announced that it is in the process of buying new modern military weapons to deal with the increase in crime in the country.
Last week, the Minister of Internal Security, Prof Kithure Kindiki, launched modern weapons worth 7.6 billion shillings to deal with insecurity in the country.
The country's President William Ruto has already promised that the purchase of these weapons is just the beginning of the government's process of buying modern weapons to fight crime.
Last week, Ruto chaired a meeting of senior security officials, where he promised that the government would provide more aircraft to the Police Department to help it fight crime.
The Ministry of Internal Security has been ordered to speed up the process of giving the police the weapons.
The Kenyan government has announced that, for the next three years, it will allocate a total of 29.4 billion shillings to run the Program to Equip the Police with Modern Weapons (PEM).
The program aims to ensure that the Police have uniforms, armored vehicles, explosives-resistant vehicles, drones, helicopters to deal with criminals, machines to remove explosives and so on.../
