Khartoum rejects the UN mission to Sudan
The Sudanese government has rejected the call of the United Nations to send an "independent neutral force" to protect millions of citizens who were forced to flee their homes due to the war that has been going on for more than a year now.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, which is under the army led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has said in its statement that "the government of Sudan rejects all proposals to have a United Nations force."
In addition to rejecting the expert team's call for an arms embargo against Sudan, the statement also added that the role of the United Nations Human Rights Council is to support the national process, instead of seeking a way to bring in external systems to intervene. internal."
This is happening in a situation where the United Nations Independent International Fact-Finding Mission in Sudan has called for an arms embargo throughout Sudan due to the escalation of brutal acts including sexual assaults.
Sudan has suffered a war between the army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is the head of the Transitional Council of Administration, and the RSF group led by his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
According to United Nations statistics, approximately 12,260 people have been killed and more than 33,000 injured in the war that began in April 2023,
The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen as nearly 6.8 million people have fled their homes to seek safety in Sudan or neighboring countries. Regional and international efforts have so far failed to stop the fighting.
