Macron: Europe must continue to support Ukraine
The French President emphasized Europe's constant support for Ukraine in the war with Russia.
According to Anadolu Agency, Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday evening at a joint press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson in Stockholm: “The European Union must support Ukraine and continue to accompany the Ukrainian people in matters of economy, finance, military, equipment and training." He continued: "We have a strategic goal. Russia must not win." Macron stressed the importance of intensifying military production to better support Ukraine. Western efforts to help Ukraine are underway, while the Russian army is now taking over initiative in the war in Ukraine. General Christian Fröding, head of the task force for the coordination of military assistance to Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, says that the lack of air support and the lack of effective air defense systems are the main reasons for the failure of the Ukrainian army to counter attacks by the Russian army over the past year. He added: “Germany is going to train about 10 thousand soldiers of the Ukrainian army in 2024.” Although Western countries have promised to send fighter jets and air defense systems to the Ukrainian army, deliveries of this military equipment have been slow. Recently, Danish media reported that the delivery of six F-16 fighter jets, which were supposed to be sent to Ukraine by the end of 2023, was again delayed. Some two years into the war in Ukraine and billions of dollars spent, Josep Barrel, the European Union's foreign policy chief, said the West alone could not isolate Russia. He warned: “Despite all efforts to isolate Russia, “they are still there and the war continues,” the intensity of the conflict is increasing and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.”
