Mexico: study, six out of ten citizens live in fear

Six out of ten citizens in Mexico live in fear, and an international tourist destination such as Cancun is also on the list of urban centers where there is a greater perception of insecurity. It emerges from a survey by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) on perception in 90 municipalities. The capital of fear, where the percentage of feelings of insecurity exceeds 90% is Fresnillo (96%), followed by Zacatecas (94.3%), in central Mexico, two of the main hotbeds of violence in the country. Naucalpan (88%), in the Mexico City metropolitan area, Ciudad Obregón (86.4%) in the state of Sonora, and Uruapan (86.2%) in Michoacán, complete the picture of the top five urban centers with ratings worse. To these are added large urban centers such as Guadalajara, Ecatepec and Cancún, with percentages exceeding 80%.
