Military expenses in the economies of Armenia and Azerbaijan are the highest among the countries of the former USSR

According to the authors of the report, the military sector occupies the most important place in the economy of the DPRK (at least 24% of the GDP according to the data of 2023), the Voice of America reports. It occupies the GDP of Afghanistan (10%), as well as the GDP of Middle East and African countries: Oman (5.9%), Algeria (4.8%), Mali, Morocco and Saudi Arabia (4.5% each). .
Among former USSR states, Armenia (4.2%) and Azerbaijan (3.8%) are higher on the list.
It is noted that in Armenia this indicator increased by 0.7% compared to 2008, and in Azerbaijan by 0.5%.
For example, in Georgia, this indicator is only 1.3%, while since 2008 it has decreased by 6.6%.
In Russia, that figure was 2.4%, in Turkey - 0.7%, in Iran - 2.2%.
Military spending in the US economy is 3.1%. 15 years ago, this indicator reached 4.7%.
