Somalia has been facing insecurity for many years, with the main threats coming from the terrorist gang al-Shabaab and other terrorist groups such as Daesh or ISIS.
Since 2007, al-Shabaab terrorists have been fighting the government of Somalia and the African Union Mission in the country (ATMIS) but their attacks have been unsuccessful especially after the gang was expelled from the big cities of Somalia and remained in some villages where it uses conducting ambushes and low-level attacks.
The African Union ATMIS force has been deployed in Somalia with the full blessing of the United Nations Security Council.
The al-Shabab terrorist group has increased its attacks since the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, declared an "all-out war" against the group, a campaign that seems to have been so successful that now the ATMIS force of the African Union has begun the process of withdrawing its soldiers. in the country to hand over all security issues to the Somali government forces.
