DRC and Uganda to revive their military cooperation
The governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda have announced the revival of their military cooperation.
That is following the meeting of the leaders of the armed forces of the two countries held in the city of Kasindi on the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda .
Speaking to the commanders of the Congolese FARDC army, the head of the Ugandan army UPDF General Kainarugaba Muhoozi said that Uganda has to cooperate with the Congo because they are neighbors, brothers and friends for a long time .
He said that cooperation is necessary for the two countries as they have to protect their citizens against the attacks of the ADF terrorist group .
Likewise, the Chief of the Ugandan Army UPDF, General Kainarugaba Muhoozi, has emphasized that this decision is a sign that these African countries have the ability to end their crisis without foreign aid .
For his part, the Chief of the Army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, General Christian Tshiwewe Songesa has congratulated the Presidents Felix Tshiskedi of the Congo and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for establishing the new partnership after Uganda appointed a new commander of its army .
" We should support the efforts of our leaders by putting our forces of two nations together to fight our enemy ADF who is killing our citizens, I thank you for your appointment as the new leader of the Ugandan army," said General Tshiwewe .
Before the agreement, the Ugandan army has been accused in Rutshuru district for supporting the M23 rebels, something that Uganda has always denied .
