Moscow is ready to help Yerevan and Baku
As before, Russia is ready to help Yerevan and Baku at a high level in all directions of the complex of trilateral agreements.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, made this statement during today's briefing, answering the question whether Russia is going to intensify mediation efforts after Vladimir Putin's visit to Baku.
"It is obvious that the conclusion of the peace treaty is an important condition for the establishment of peace and stability between Azerbaijan and Armenia and in the South Caucasus in general. We have always stated at all levels that we are interested in this happening as soon as possible, we have done practically everything for it. Our willingness to continue the support was confirmed by the president himself," said Zakharova.
The diplomat added that the efforts of the Russian side correspond to the spirit characteristic of the allied relations with Yerevan and Baku, they are based on deep historical and cultural ties, joint aspirations to build a strong security system in the region.
Touching on the possibility of increasing tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Zakharova reminded Yerevan and Baku of the regular calls to show restraint and avoid any actions fraught with destabilization of the situation.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry summarized that all controversial issues should be resolved exclusively through peaceful political-diplomatic means.
