RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan legitimized Baku's demands to change the RA Constitution from the UN podium. In a conversation with Sputnik Armenia, political scientist Suren Surenyants expressed such a view, commenting on the Prime Minister's speech from the UN podium.

It should be noted that on September 26, at the UN summit, Pashinyan announced that if the peace agreement contradicts the RA Constitution, it will be necessary to make constitutional changes.

"Yesterday, Nikol Pashinyan took half a step back from the UN podium when he said that yes, he is ready to discuss the issue of amending the Constitution as part of the settlement process. with this, he legitimizes the demand of Azerbaijan", said Surenyants.

According to the political scientist, Nikol Pashinyan's entire policy before, during and after the 44-day war was built on dangerous illusions. "That person did not understand that wishes and illusions have no role in international relations," he said.

Surenyants drew attention to the fact that Nikol Pashinyan devoted the lion's share of his speech to an issue that Azerbaijan has already rejected. We are talking about the separate signing of the already agreed points of the peace treaty.

"It seems to him that in front of the international community, he should be embarrassed and say: we agree in this way, Azerbaijan does not agree, there should be pressure on Azerbaijan, this is an illusory approach," he said.

According to the political scientist, Nikol Pashinyan is already presenting the illusion as a reality, stating on behalf of Azerbaijan that he recognizes the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.

"It is very easy to oppose it, because we cannot remember a single case when Aliyev or any of his foreign policy officials mentioned that they recognize the territorial integrity of RA with specific geographical parameters, nothing like that happened," he said.

From the above, the political scientist got the impression that Pashinyan sent a clear signal that Armenia is ready to withdraw all its complaints from international institutions.

Let's remind that Pashinyan also announced at the session of the UN General Assembly in New York that after the signing of the peace agreement, the Constitutional Court of the country should examine the document on the issue of its compliance with the basic law. And if it turns out in the process that the contract contradicts it, then we can talk about amending the Constitution.
